Barring a miracle run where they win out and make at least a championship game, I think we’re all expecting this to be Ron’s last season. It’s clear at this point what the team is under him and it’s not good enough.

That said, who you got for next year?

The ones I have seen talked about other places online:

Bienemy Positives: Sam is familiar with his scheme, and has played well. He also might be what this team needs which is a hard ass that doesn’t accept less than 100% effort at all times. Negatives: I don’t want to put it all on him, but it seems like he was at least ok with some of the personnel decisions along the offensive line. There’s lingering questions on how much of Kansas City’s success was his coaching versus other factors. Finally, what I’ve seen from the offense so far has been mixed. Some good things, I think Howell has been a bright spot and seems to be overcoming some of the early sack issues, but the running game has been poor, the sacks have been historically bad, and bottom line is, they’re not losing games 35-30 for the most part, they’re just an average offense.

Jim Harbaugh Positives: he’s an experienced NFL coach and had success in the past and brings in an air of professionalism and competence. Has made Superbowls. Negatives: you know exactly what you’re getting. He has taken very talented rosters to the Superbowl, but never got over the hump. This roster is not very talented, so is he a good enough coach to change that? Don’t know the answer to that. I also don’t personally like the Harbaughs, they always to me come off as assholes. If they make this team good, I don’t give a shit about that, but it’s hard to stomach if they don’t.

Ben Johnson Positives: offensive coordinator for a team that’s putting up points with a guy Sean McVay couldn’t or didn’t want to make work. The lions offense is good. Negatives: the same question you have about Bienemy being responsible for the chiefs are questions here. You don’t know how much he matters to that team. Also, they’ve only been good for like 18 months. I think that’s long enough for teams to make adjustments to your offense if that was going to be an issue, but it isn’t a super long track record.

Frank Smith Positives: McDaniel’s system is, in my opinion, the best in the NFL right now. Obviously you have to have fast, good receivers to run it, but I think it would benefit Howell, McClaurin and Dotson if Smith could bring the same level of innovation here. Negatives: Same as the other coordinators, how much is him being a good coordinator versus the head coach being the innovator. I like the overall philosophy in Miami of bringing in extreme talent and then finding ways to get them the ball in space and you just hope that’s something that comes with him if you hire him.

Ejiro Evero Positives: coached a good Broncos group and has the Panthers with a top 10 defense. He seems to be able to get guys to buy in quickly and play well together. The Panthers offense has been real bad this year and yet even with their defense having to be on the field a ton, they are pretty good. Negatives: he’s a defensive coach in an offensive league. I also think when you have a young QB, his development is the absolute number one priority for your franchise. If we had an established guy that could carry over success and we were losing because our defense was awful, I think he’d make more sense. Which isn’t a knock on him as a coach, I just don’t think the needs of the franchise align with his skills.

But what do you all think? Anyone I didn’t list you’d want to see as the coach?
