Positive Takeaways:

• Amon-Ra St. Brown continues to be elite. This was his highest graded game of the season. He moved up from the 11th highest graded WR to the 7th highest graded on the season. He was the 4th highest graded receiver this week behind Keenan Allen, Noah Brown, and (surprisingly) Brandin Cooks. ARSB is consistently good to great every week. With his lowest grade being a 65.2 in week 7
• Jared Goff had the 3rd highest graded QB performance this week, behind Dak and Purdy. He has moved from 3rd to 2nd highest graded Qb on the year behind only Josh Allen. Week 7 is really the only bad game he has played, every other week he has been elite
• What more can be said about Penei Sewell? Every single week this guy brings it. This was his third game this season with a grade over 80. He rose from 4th to the 2nd highest graded tackle in football after this game. Behind only Darrisaw
• A great bounce back game for Alex Anzalone on a day where there wasn’t many bright spots on Defense. After getting grades over 80 three weeks in a row from week 4-6, he struggled a bit last week but bounced back well this game. I was actually expecting a lower grade this week, but my eyes never seem to match PFF when it comes to linebackers. It was the opposite last game. Anzalone is now the 23rd highest graded LB in the league. His overall grade takes a hit because he has one of the worst missed tackle rates.
• It’s a very gradual process, but Jack Campbell is slowly but surely getting better. He has had grades over 60 in 3 of the last 4 games. He’s inconsistent but you’d expect that from a rookie
• Nice to see Sam LaPorta get back in the high grade column again. This was his highest graded game since week 3. He rose from 7th to 6th highest graded TE in football after this game
• Jameson Williams got his highest graded game of the season which is good to see (66.7). Felt like he played a complete game, no drops. Also had a TD called back and was throwing a key block on the Monty TD. Hopefully he just keeps building off of it.
• Brock Wright also had his highest graded game of the season. After being the worst graded guy on the team, he has put together a couple good games in a row.
• In a game where the DB’s played pretty horrible (Get to that later), Jerry Jacobs was still solid with a 63 grade. Obviously that isn’t great, but he held his own out there on a day where others struggled. He has continued to be a very stable CB2 for the team. This is 5 straight games over 60 and three of those over 70
• Great game from John Cominsky as well. It’s been a struggle most of the season, but he played one of his better games of the season

Negative Takeaways:

• We’ll start with Cameron Sutton. The last three weeks he has received grades of 47.2, 33.8 and now 43.2. We need better play out of a guy that is supposed to be our CB1. He has been a different player compared to how he played the first 4 weeks of the season. He is currently the 89th ranked CB in the league
• Kerby Joseph is a roller coaster. 81.4 last week, 43.9 this week. 27.9 in week 6, 77.7 in week 2. You don’t know which Kerby you are going to get. The fact that he got a 43.9 in a week where he made a terrific INT shows that he must have played pretty terrible outside of that play
• Brian Branch also had his worst graded game of his short career. He hasn’t quite been the same since coming back from his injury. But I expect him to be just fine.
• I was surprised Jahmyr Gibbs only got a 62.5 grade this week. He only got a 49.8 passing grade so maybe they held the drop against him pretty hard. I thought he would be one of the higher graded players so I must have overlooked his second half performance
• Josh Reynolds and Kalif Raymond were both top 20 WR’s through week 5. But both haven’t been very good since then Kalif has graded below 65 for 4 weeks in a row now. Reynolds has also been low 60’s. Would be nice to see those guys play like they did the first 5 games. Although, the offense put up 41 so I can’t be too picky.
• They just can’t seem to get much in terms of outside pass rushers besides Aidan Hutchinson. Hutch had another solid game (79.5) and Charles Harris and Cominsky played fairly well this week. But the Okwara’s and Paschal continue to not play very well. It would be nice to get a lot more help with the pass rush. This was yet another game without a single sack. PFF has the Lions graded as the 22nd best pass rush team. That just isn’t good enough.
