Let’s forget everything else that’s wrong for a moment…
In 226 minutes, PWill has 12 free throw attempts. This is insane for a 6’8 power forward.
He start driving to the basket like crazy and attack strong. And seriously… do almost nothing else for a bit. He will get two points or go to the line, the latter potentially helping him find his stroke that’s gone missing.
This is my armchair advice for a guy who’s shutting down in real time. Stop overthinking and start manufacturing points. His career is in the balance, mind as well start with something simple.
Honestly Pat’s game is almost a mirror of DeMar, minus the pure touch on the shot. PWill’s better (in theory) from 3 but he’s a good mid range player and decent enough at getting separation. His issue is that he’s trying to play like Zach or Coby, driving down the lane at full speed or poping off 3s. What he should do is dribble to the line and take a middy. He’d have a lot more success at that and it’s clear that this was a focus of his training camp with DeMar.
