I know most of us here know that we succeed more often than not when we have a solid run game. I just want to throw my $.02 in there about it. I think it’s clear Tony isn’t the best back when it comes to running between the tackles. And we don’t really have a bruising RB on the roster per se. I believe we will need a solid run game if we want to beat the better teams in the division come January.
I have a solution and I hope McCarthy is thinking about this as well. We need to really utilize the I-formation more and 2 back sets if we want to get more physical with the really physical D-lines in the NFC. I want to see more Luepke out there at FB helping to open it up in the middle. Hell even throw a TE at FB in these sets like we’ve done before. I think it’ll have success come playoff time and adversely open up the pass game more.
I just feel we might be getting too one-dimensional when it comes to our great passing attack. Great defenses will figure out a way to slow down our receivers i.e. play more sneaky zone coverages on our receivers which is where Dak struggles to throw against. And I know we tried using it against San Fran and it didn’t work but we also barely utilized any pre snap motion in that game. We need to couple them together. Rant over.
We succeed when we call a situationally sound game.
I mean if we fix our run game, great! But what u don’t want to see is us bashing our heads against the wall INSISTING on wasted first down runs. If it’s not there, let dak cook on first down and stop fucking with our first two downs then asking him to bail us on 3rd.
Yeah, that was the problem before the bye… we wasted two downs on small yardage downs. Idk why we wanna go back to that. I dont want us to start forcing the run. If the run gets going 100% ride the hot hand tho
That’s why you utilize all your weapons like Dak has been doing to not depend on 1 player as for the running game while not great I think 13th in the league
