I am using my S10+ for 4 years now and I have no reason to get a new phone apart from the lack of updates. It feels old without updates, if you understand what I mean. What is a big downside for not getting any updates anymore? Security maybe?
Coming from Apple my old IPhone was supported for what felt like ages.
I could spend the money on a new phone but I don’t really see the point. I don’t want to spend it just so I can get new updates. The S10+ just feels perfect, it’s crazy to me how good the battery is + performance and everything else. The phone also just looks good. It has no fault apart form regular updates.
Could you maybe list some reason why I should get a new phone or why I should still wait.

Looking at my serviceable iPhone6 that Apple shut down(Safari has outdated and not updating certificates, the machine has been remotely slowed down, apps won’t open), I cried after reading your words.
I think that as long as the phone works, it’s fine to use it. You don’t store Pentagon computer passwords on your phone, and banking apps usually have two-factor authentication. Many vendors(Samsung) are famous for sending out cosmetic updates over a long period of time. It seems like you’re updating, but in reality the updates bring unnecessary garbage into the system.
Hmm I just bought an Samsung s10 after 10 years, should I be disappointed? :(
It’s not bad. You don’t need the latest major os update.
I’m on an s9
I am using an S10+. I think the security updates stopped about 6 months ago. I love this phone it has a headphone jack and expandable memory. I will probably be getting a new phone within the next 6 months because an app I use for my hearing aids works better with Android 13 and this phone stopped getting updates at Android 12.
My battery life is still good.
