I created an lineup Analyzer so you can get an idea of where a team excels or is weak. its analyzed based on AI. This is still in the workings but I thought id share it with you guys. its all based on stats and advanced metrics. Give me some feed back or ideas on this please.

Here is the AI script that was generated based off the Jazz Lineup so for THIS SEASON. This will obviously change as the season goes on.

This NBA lineup presents a diverse set of strengths and weaknesses across various statistical categories, with data based on percentile rankings. Defensively, the team struggles, evident in a low 23.2% percentile in defense and an alarming 11.5% team defensive impact. There is a significant need for improvement in limiting opponents’ scoring opportunities.

Offensively, the team demonstrates an average performance in 3-point shooting (49.5%) and playmaking (46.0%). The playmaking volume (50.8%) is also average, but the playmaking efficiency (37.6%) is below par, indicating room for improvement in creating effective scoring opportunities. Rebounding stands out as a strength, particularly in offensive rebounding (64.9%), showcasing the team’s ability to secure second-chance opportunities.

The offensive playstyle reveals a reliance on spot-up 3-pointers (33.7%) and assisted inside scoring (14.9%), showcasing a balanced approach to scoring. The primary playmaker, Talen Horton-Tucker, contributes to the team’s offensive diversity, while Lauri Markkanen serves as the primary scoring option. Teammate ease impact ratio on offense is average (49.0%), suggesting moderate cohesion in offensive plays.

In summary, while the team excels in offensive rebounding and creates additional possessions through scrappy defense and rebounding, defensive weaknesses, particularly in team defensive impact, need urgent attention. Improvements in playmaking efficiency and defensive capabilities could significantly enhance overall team performance.

Did you just give a bunch of lineups to ChatGPT and ask it for its thoughts?

I mean sure, that falls under the definition of “using AI” in its crudest sense. But all it’s doing is giving you a hot take without really understanding any of the intricacies of the lineup. Any random dude on r/NBA could do the same thing.

Actually using AI would mean giving it lineups and stats as input and training it with game outcomes. If that’s something you’re interested in you can definitely do it to a rudimentary level, there’s a lot of easy Python ML tutorials online. I’m not sure how accurate it would be (especially if it’s just a passion project), but at the very least it might be more insightful than a GPT hot take lol.

Like I said it uses a lot of advanced data like shooting, playmaking, Defensive metrics. I also created some formulas based off player shooting and passing tendency to analyze how well they fit together. Not sure where you got the idea that I just copied and pasted some stuff into chat GPT. This has been in the works for a while now and still has a lot to improve on. My goal is to make this as accurate as possible which will be hard I know. I dont have to much experience with Python but Im getting the feeling if I really want to take this to the next step some type of coding will be needed.
