I’m European and I recently decided to start watching the NBA. Since my dad is a huge fan of the knicks i decided to root for that team.

So now that I root for the Knicks, I’m asking you for informations about the team :

Which players are the most important right now ? What is our history ? Who is our coach ? Which rivalries do we have ? and others…

Thanks for your answers, I’m excited to know more about this team !!

Stay away from this sub. It’s filled with casual emotional fans that don’t know anything about basketball expect that the ball is supposed to go into the hoop. If you’re a casual fan, then you may find a liking to the sub. But fans that thoroughly understand that game are few and far in between

The Knicks are on an uptrend for the first time in a while.

Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle are our stars

Mitchell Robinson is a proven defensive guy

RJ barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes have a lot of upside

We got some good role plays in Hartenstein, josh hart, and Divincenzo.

Our only championships are in 70 and 73

Outside of a run in the 90s and our 70s run we’ve been mediocre.

    Legacy players to know

Patrick Ewing, Willis Reed, Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier, Earl Monroe, John Starks, Carmelo Anthony.

Also Jeremy Lin went from benchwarmer to the second coming of Michael Jordan for a month while he was on the Knicks.

I don’t feel like there are any really HOT rivalries right now. The legacy rivalries are mentioned, of which Miami is the biggest IMHO. Rivalries are born in the playoffs and frankly we ain’t been there much in the last ten years, though we are making some noise lately. That said, Cleveland is an up and coming team - like us - with some recent trade history and playoff matches that add fuel to the fire.
