LINK - Daniel calls this Dak’s best game of the season, and one of the best of his career.
Play design also looking better, although I’m not sure how much that is to do with chargers defence being ass. Quick look at some basic stats (yds, yds/attempt, TDs etc) suggests they are pretty woeful.
My key takeaways were, surprise surprise offence looks better with heavy use of motion, feeding CD, designed runs for Dak, and more off script plays by Dak. Throw to Gallup over the middle was a dime and should’ve been a TD. He is consistently great at those throws, can remember quite a few similar to I think Jarwin, Schultz and Wilson among others
IMO Dak will never be a top tier quarterback who can carry us come what may, but there are very few of those guys, and he is solidly in the next tier of guys who can consistently win if he isn’t being boned by play design and play calling. Been horrible watching him struggle to make plays with all of his receiver’s blanketed every play, but who wouldn’t struggle with that. I think we also forget he doesn’t have an absolutely elite target to bail him out when the play design / calling is hurting us. We don’t have anyone on the level of Jefferson, Adams, Kelce, Chase, Tyreek, etc.
I know no one is going to agree, but im of the opinion the pass game has been fine. Our numbers between the 20s, more recently the red zone, and 3rd Down back that up.
Our run Game has looked pedestrian and gotten worse as our line gets healthier. Can only hope it’s a gelling thing.
I’d like to see Dak play like this more often. His feet have been glued to the pocket for years. I’m not sure if it was the injury or play calling. I feel like he was less mobile purposely even before the injury. This is his game. Go through the progressions and break pocket. Quit starring down shit.
