They have one major paid expansion and a free rework but what else besides that have they done over the last 3 years other than normal patching to warrant a nomination?
Meanwhile, No Man’s Sky is still releasing several major updates with new gameplay elements and changes multiple times a year and all for free. They also set up several expeditions every year. They put the game on PS VR2 and beyond that even went back to it and added foveated rendering to make it even better.
Microsoft Flight Simulator releases multiple major World updates each year which include enhanced scenery in a region, new aircraft and even new content like Discovery Flights and Bush Trips. Like No Man’s Sky these are all done for free.
How do these, and I am sure many other examples, get overlooked because CyberPunk released one major revamp (2.0 update) in three years? That’s not a knock on Cyberpunk because I actually enjoyed the game but I don’t consider it an ongoing game, especially considering that they essentially said that they are done with it after Phantom Liberty, which would make it the opposite on ongoing.
For this category? Yes.
No Man’s Sky has continued to release large content releases for 7 years now. The released 4 major updates in 2023 (Fractal, Interceptor, Singularity, and Echoes). There have been 25 major updates since the release 7 years ago.
They have also released three new expeditions in 2023, bring the total up to 11.
And all this has been free. So yes, I believe it fits this category better than Cyberpunk.
