Every now and again I’ll come across a game that’s stubborn to update. Here’s the steps these games try to take: it’ll download the files without issue, then it verifies the update without issue, but when it goes to install the update, disk usage drops to 0mbps and I basically lose functionality of the Deck.

If I press the pause button next to downloads, nothing happens. Similarly, if I try to start another queued download, nothing happens. It’ll think it’s still installing update but remain at 0mbps disk usage and will do nothing even if left for several hours. If I try to launch a game, any game, it just loops infinitely.

If I go into power options and select Restart or Shut Down, it will attempt to stop downloads and then freeze on the Steam logo (the spinning blue line stops moving), forcing a manual hard power-off by holding the power button down. On restarting the Deck, it will say “missing downloaded files” next to the game, and then you can restart the patching process from “verifying update”, but then it’ll hang again on “installing update”.

It’s not every game, but here’s a few I’ve noticed it in:

  • Diablo 4
  • Sands of Aura
  • Sifu
  • Sackboy’s Big Adventure

When I get this issue, which is every update for the above games, I need to delete all game files and redownload the whole game. I’ve tried verifying game files and it just hangs again at installing update. I even removed and reinserted MicroSD and nothing changes.

I’m really tired of doing this, has anyone else had these issues and know of a solution? I actually refunded Diablo 4 because I just couldn’t justify redownloading 80gb every time I wanted to play it.

Having issues with diablo 4 also. Every update even if its small it the install parts takes 20+ minutes and then downloads another 20+GB file. Really annoying and idk why its doing that shit
