Hey there! I hope this is a quick and simple one — I know little to nothing about computer hardware, so it really is a complete noob question, it might be a super stupid one! But better safe than sorry. :)
My cat is a little bastard and I caught him chewing on … well, I had to google it, I think it’s called a ferrite bead? Those little cylinder blocks on laptop charging cables, mine has two (one at the top where the charging plug is, one halfway down where it connects to the power brick), I am unsure whether both serve the same purpose. Thankfully he only put a few dents into the plastic so far, I can see no genuine damage.
To prevent him from further damaging it when I’m not looking, I sewed two 1.5mm thick (genuine) leather sleeves for the cylinders. Like this: [IMAGE] It slides tightly onto the cylinder. My question is: Is this harmful?
My thought is: If the cylinders in any way work as a heat sink, or otherwise can overheat, I’m fearing covering them would be bad. But maybe I’m over-thinking it!
Thanks! :)
