I’m not a Bills fan, but watched the game last night, and I’m not trying to rub this in. I’ve just been thinking all morning about how a team could take a too many men penalty on a FG block. There are 11 guys on every NFL team that know it is there job to go out for a FG block. So who was the 12th guy and why was he out there? The only theories I have are:

  1. An injury to someone normally on the FG block unit created confusion about who was supposed to fill in for him.
  2. This one is a long shot, but a different personnel package for this particular FG. Idk if they would put more athletic guys out there to get around the edge or try to jump and block it, but then why wouldn’t those guys just always be out there?

Idk, none of it makes sense, and for a team that should be very good, you guys are being let down by coaching.
