Why is there two brake fluid reservoirs in some vehicles?

Both containers take DOT3 brake fluid. I am wondering why there is two separate containers for the same fluid. There is a difference in the color of the two where one appears black and the other orange.

The second container is unspecified in the Hayne’s repair manual. What’s the deal?
