I don’t have it handy but someone did an analysis this off season on OC/DC experience and how much it relates to success as a HC.

Basically, there’s no correlation. The skills that make a good head coach are largely separate from those that make a great coordinator.

Fans and the media will hype up hot shot coordinators, and teams will interview them, but at the end of the day a lot of these open positions are going to get filled instead by guys with prior HC experience that are seen as a much safer bet.

This is the price of success.

Honestly, I’m not sweating it though. I trust MCDC to find his replacement.

Don’t worry he’ll already have a ring by the time he starts HC interviews for next season

If we win the superbowl does that make him more or less likely to leave?

This might sound negative and don’t get me wrong because I think Ben Johnson is a genius, but is he head coach material?

Like, I think he’d be fine at the more cerebral aspects of coaching but can we picture him giving inspirational speeches? Getting the whole team to “buy in” to a overall concept?

I think of other coaches in the league that have continued success and it seems like they’re all characters, if you know what I mean. Does Mr Johnson have that kind of personality?

Maybe I’m off and it’s sort of how people take Jared Goff for a Smokin’ Jay Cutler type. What do you guys think?
