Personally I think that the normal iPhone camera app has exactly the right amount of control options for most users. They are quickly accessible and easy to understand for anyone. If someone wants to control every single detail, there are plenty of apps that allow for that.

However one thing that bothers me, especially with lidar equipped iPhones is the auto focus. Don’t get me wrong, auto focus works really great and insanely fast most of the time, but some times it makes it impossible to get a great shot.

I am talking about situations with a partially obstructed view.

At a sport events, trying to take a picture through the protective netting, the phone doesn’t take focus on the game, only on the net. Or taking pictures through a rainy car window. The camera will only focus on the rain drops. Not on anything outside. Or at the aquarium, where the phone focused on the glass and not the fish that were behind it.

I am not talking about a scroll wheel that allows you to fine tune the focus. I am talking about 3 presets that give the phone a general idea on where to focus in case auto focus misses. That way you can tell the phone to try to focus on something in the distance without figuring out for a minute what the best settings are.
