It’s (obviously) early, but Damian Lillard through 8 games with the Bucks:
23ppg on 48% from 2pt and 27% from 3pt
19% of shots at the rim, lowest of his career
4.8 assists/game, lowest in his career
Box plus/minus of -0.8
Value over replacement player basically nil (0.1)
Just curious what Celtics fans think about this. This is a historically dominant offensive player, but he’s also 33-years-old and a major liability on defense.
Oh I’m sure they’ll shoot 85% from 3 and be a stout defense whenever they play us.
Im gonna reserve judgment until April.
Couple of things to add here (thanks everyone for responding):
- Bucks record is fine, but they have a -2.4 point differential. They are not playing well.
- It’s early (I said that in the post), but little guards *do* sometimes fall off fast. We’ve seen it twice just in the past five years in Boston. Not saying that’s what’s happening here, but it’s a possibility we’re starting to see the decline.
- There’s a chance the Bucks figure it out, but there’s an equal chance that Adrian Griffin (whom I lived as a player in green) is fired during the regular season if they flounder, in my opinion.
