I’m too busy watching Sixers/Celtics/Bucks games to review the Pistons, so I figured I would ask the experts. Bust or let him cook?
He’s good he just isn’t the franchise player people on this sub thought he was.
blud thought he was asking the experts
Why am I seeing this post every single day? He’s not a bust, who the fuck looks at Cade and thinks he’s a bust. Only thing he’d bust is your ankles OP.
I think he’s gonna end up as a Lonzo Ball type player. Not that archetype but around that skill level of good starter but not a star or franchise player
So would that be a bust? For a 1st overall pick probably
You’re the point guard, Cade! YOU HAVE THE REINS
If anything his teammates are the victims of a poor offense.
both
Y’all are dumb af, this is technically his second year and he’s averaging 23/4/7
The problem is y’all pay too much attention to advanced stats.
Monty has been disappointing not Cade. It’s malpractice putting Hayes in the starting lineup.
He’s in a weird situation because he is clearly talented but the high caliber player he was profiled as coming into the draft hasn’t materialized
I had him second behind Mobley that year for a lot of the reasons why he hasn’t been successful so far but as you stated the team isn’t set up all that well for him
However the same argument was made to cover his weaknesses at Oklahoma State
It’s now going on year 4 of him having these issues and while you can argue all 4 years the team hasn’t suited his talents at some point if you are the number 1 pick and had the hype he did you would want to see a lot more out of him than what we currently are
I compared him to a bigger Kyle Lowry coming into the draft, a great #2 guy and leader but someone who lacks the consistent scoring prowess and athleticism needed to be a #1 guy on a high level contender
He’s fucking 22.
You don’t have to watch a player’s games to know that you don’t label a player a bust when he’s averaging 22/4/7 in what amounts to his second season from a GP perspective. Yeah, the efficiency sucks, the turnovers are worrying. Those create questionmarks about his ceiling, but there are questionmarks in the other direction, particularly what would he do with a better-constructed roster around him.
And I guess it depends on your standard for being a bust as a #1 pick. Generational PG? I don’t see that sort of ceiling in him right now. That was always a really high standard. Repeat allstar and borderline all-NBA level? Yeah, I think that’s still very-much on the table for him.
