I’m looking to buy a used CX-9, and am trying to decide between two options. One is certified pre-owned but Autocheck report shows accident with minor damage that required body and mechanical repair, while the other is not CPO and has a clean Carfax report. Both have similar mileage and were previous leases. Which one would you choose?

I bought my 2016 3 in 2018 as a CPO that had an accident. Under Mazdas CPO guidelines if it was in an accident it means no airbags deployed and it cannot have been towed away from the scene. So basically just got bumped into in traffic. Have had zero issues with mine 5 years later. Zero lights on the dashboard and only done tires brakes and oil! Just passed 100,000 miles last month!

CPO has become not much more than a money grab, they can call any old thing CPO now. I’d go with the vehicle with no accident. A thorough inspection by yourself and a mechanic you trust is the best way.
