Greetings, I live on a property with two houses, the router and modem are in the other house, we have a ethernet cable that runs through to my house. I bought a wifi extender here and it’s been a nuisance.

When its first powered on, it offers a generic “wifi-5D54” network to join. For some devices, it works great at this point, it connects and I can access the internet effortlessly, but other devices require me to finalize it with the setup, a web interface for the extender, asking me to choose the main network and applying the password. When I do this, the network changes into “(my network’s name)_Pro”.

I try reconnecting to that network, but it can’t connet, sometimes saying the password is invalid. I’ve tried redoing this multiple times, confirming the password was right, unplugging eveything, etc. Is there anything you could recommend me trying? Thanks for your help.

You might be better off returning the extender and replacing the router with a mesh system.

Many mesh routers sets can pair with each other over ethernet. So you would have one network, with two access points: one by the modem, the other in your house at the other end of the network cable.
