At the end of the season, the NBA should host an end of season tournament to determine who the best team in the league is. They should take the 6 best teams in each conference, as well as 4 additional teams from both conferences with good records but not good enough to make the top 6. Then, the NBA can have those teams play an extra 83rd or even 84th game of the season (similar to midseason championship game) to determine who the last two spots will belong to in the east and west conferences.

Once these teams are selected, each conference will have tournament matchups where the the best record would play worse record, 2nd best would play the second worst and so on. Teams have to win 4 games out of 7 to advance to the next round. Once advancing, they will play the other teams that advanced from their conference until there is 1 team remaining from each conference.

The winner of the final matchup between the two remaining teams will be able to take home the prestigious Adam Silver Trophy.

Why would we have an end of season tournament when we’ve already got an in season tournament that starts at the very beginning of the season and features neon courts?

They should do this for the bottom 4 teams with the winner getting the #1
