Now that we only have the world finals left, what does everyone think about this new swiss stage + knockout stage change for 2023?
In my opinion, i feel like for the swiss stage; teams with 2 wins/losses that play bo3 should be changed to bo5. Having top teams going through with only the least amount of games seems unlucky/disappointing. If the final stretch of teams that accrue scores of 2-0 / 2-1 / 2-2 / 1-2 / 0-2 -> change the bo3 to bo5.
Secondly, leave the bo1s as bo1s in swiss stage as this is the most exciting and enticing part for everyone as viewers, players, and casters. This draw every week was so hype and funny and shocking. This is probably a great implementation for league’s future worlds.
Thirdly, hear me out, change the knockout stage to either:
- BO7 from quarterfinals to finals.
OR - Leave it at BO5 but introduce loser’s bracket just like MSI.
Honestly, BO7 seems so beneficial with 165 champions in the game, over 1000 items in game, rune changes, meta changes, patch adjustments, balance, map alterations, etc…
Open for semi-serious ideas, what are your thoughts?
