Hi all,

Just a quick one to see if anyone has given MH:W a go on the steam deck, and to check how it runs.

Does it get to PS4 levels of quality? It’s relatively cheap when on sale (like £10) and I have fond memories of playing it on the PS4. Managed to level up the guiding lands fairly well back when I last played it in 2021.

Since then, I’ve played monster hunter rise on switch lite, but it’s hard to beat the exploratory feeling and ‘hunter factor’ you get with world. That being said, I do love the uniqueness of rise and I’m not even sure if I’m going to miss some of the additions that came with that, such as the wire bug, vertical exploration, permanent mounts and wyvern riding, to name a few.

I’ve been playing monhun since the early monster hunter freedom unite days so I’m well experienced; just wondering if it’s the nostalgia talking regarding World and concerned that if I rebuy it on deck, I’ll quickly get bored with having to start right from the beginning.

Can anyone give me their opinion on the MH:W deck performance and experience, particularly if they owned it on console prior to rebuying on deck, or went from Rise, back to World on deck?

Cheers

Thanks for the replies all. From my little bit of research, it seems like it runs really well at thereabouts PS4 graphics at 40fps, which is brilliant for a handheld.

I find the the difference between 30fps and 40fps is a lot more noticeable on handheld, than the difference between 40fps and 60 fps.

40fps sounds spot on to me! I’ll have to have serious think about whether I’m ready to abandon the QOL upgrades and unique features that come with Rise, to jump back into World!
