Always made me laugh these threads. Always have done for decades. Same goes with the lossless/hires threads.

Many people with more experience can answer this better than me, but a few caveats I think should be acknowledged:

-This sub is heavily biased towards DAC’s don’t matter at all or matter very little. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing but it shouldn’t be a surprise which comments are upvoted / downvoted.

-If a small number of people truly have “golden ears” where they can hear things that us “normal ears” people can’t, then how would we have any way of knowing? Also on the flipside, if these “golden ears” listeners are completely full of shit (or placebo), then we also have no way of knowing. People can always claim they hear things that others don’t and it’s very hard to prove otherwise. Again I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with the notion, but it throws a huge wrench in the gears of subjective testing given that some people DO have better hearing than others, and some MAY be able to hear nuance in chain gear that others can’t.
