So I just heard that Disney may be planning a lawsuit against Paramount plus and South Park over their Panderverse special. They say that South Park is responsible for the decline in viewership for many of their projects that don’t have Mandolorian in its name ( obviously it couldn’t have anything to do with the sharp decline in quality). This is of course bullshit and they have no legal feet to stand on. Hell I heard That Matt and Trey have lawyers review new episode before releasing them so they can’t get sued.

But this got me thinking. In case Disney where to do something really dumb like try to buy the company that makes South Park and try to cancel the show (I dought they could afford that these days) then who exactly ows the copyright to South Park?Is it Comedy Central? Matt and Trey? I couldn’t find a clear answer online other than Matt and Trey have creative control, and idk if that means full ownership of the IP itself.

Oh so now they are blaming South Park? Their viewership declined because their new content sucks and it’s all pandering and race swapping which is exactly what the panderverse was making fun of.

So things. Anyone can sue anyone for anything but SP is protected by comedy fair use.
