Hello! I can’t find an updated post on all this since the initial release and I see a few people asking what all the symbols look like and how to get them. So, i’ma dump all the info I have collected here!
First I want to apologize if my formatting is shit, new to posting on reddit :)
OVERALL LEVEL
We’ll start with your overall level. This is what is displayed over the winning heroes at the end of the match. It is the accumulative levels of all your heroes. This number will be a little off due either a glitch, the way the xp is added or something I just don’t understand yet.
Badges change every 50 levels and each colored badge has 5 stages indicated by the glowing star and decor in the middle. With most of us having the Iron badges, once you hit level 250, it will switch to green. I’ll drop all the images I have here :)
I would like to think these below are level 700, 950, and 1200 respectfully. However, with the metallic inner lining, these might be “prestige” versions. My theory is that they will only keep the 4 colors and reset you back to the original just with more details around it showing off that you have surpassed level 1249. Since each hero right now has a max level of 1000 and 38 heroes. This makes the overall cap 38,000. Also making making my theory have 30 different prestige variants.
HERO, ROLE, AND GAMEMODE BADGES
These go up every 10 levels with a soft cap right now of 1000. (This cap is coming from the last achievable title for each hero.) You can level heroes by leveling each sub-badge for that hero. Each sub-badge gives you 200xp with the exception of Time-played which is 5,600xp and Wins which is 2,400xp.
After level 20 it takes 60,000xp to level up.
LEVEL | REQUIRED XP | XP TOTAL |
---|---|---|
1 | 2,000 | 0 |

3 | 8,000 | 6,000 |
4 | 12,000 | 14,000 |
5 | 12,000 | 26,000 |
6 | 12,000 | 38,000 |
7 | 16,000 | 50,000 |
8 | 16,000 | 66,000 |
9 | 16,000 | 82,000 |
10 | 20,000 | 98,000 |
11 | 24,000 | 118,000 |
12 | 28,000 | 142,000 |
13 | 32,000 | 170,000 |
14 | 36,000 | 202,000 |
15 | 40,000 | 238,000 |
16 | 44,000 | 278,000 |
17 | 48,000 | 322,000 |
18 | 52,000 | 370,000 |
19 | 56,000 | 422,000 |
20 | 60,000 | 478,000 |
25 | 778,000 | |
50 | 2,278,000 | |
100 | 5,278,000 | |
250 | 14,278,000 | |
500 | 29,278,000 | |
750 | 44,278,000 | |
1000 | 59,800,000 |
If you want to find the xp for a certain level: Level wanted - 20 x 60,000 + 478,000
Again with the prestige? Level 1000 maybe? Also the color and shape of levels 200-249.
SUB-BADGES
These badges are a little more complicated. The icon will change with a new glowing decal every 25 levels up to 5 times. After 124 levels, the glowing decals reset and you gain a dot underneath it until you have 5 dots. After 599 levels, it will change color and the same order will apply. (So level 600 you will go from bronze to silver.) Currently I only know of bronze, silver, gold, and purple. In the early showoff of the system. There is a Reinhardt with a “Mastery” looking badge but other badges have changed since then and I do not know if that still applies. I will attach the photo at the bottom.
I believe purple comes after gold, making the total known level right now 2,500.
EXTRAS
A bit of math :)
Lets say you hit that max purple at 2,500 levels on each sub-badge. Majority of heroes have 6 unique sub-badges that give 200xp with time-played giving 5,600xp and wins giving 2,400xp. How much xp will all our max purples give us?
2,500lvls x 6 unique badges x 200xp = 3,000,000xp
2,500lvls x time-played for 5,600xp = 14,000,000xp
2,500lvls x wins for 2,400xp = 6,000,000xp
Total = 23,000,000 xp
That only puts our Hero at level 395!
You receive 1 level for the time played badge every 20 minutes in-game. To hit level 2,500, you need 34 in game days on the hero.
20min x 2,500lvls = 50,000mins or 833hrs or 34.7 days!
Also some extra photos for ya’ll to pick through
Currently on OW2’s website about progression
Thanks! Hope this helps!
