This and Blue Chips did a lot to open up my eyes about how different college athletics were than what we got to see during a game or two each week. Both still extremely relevant 30 years later.
Okay, so a couple things:
Watching Deebo since he came out, this is how Deebo runs routes even when he thinks he’s getting the ball. I don’t think it’s necessarily lazy route running, like JT suggests. It’s moreso that Deebo has such great short area quickness that he likes to lull defenders to sleep then accelerate out of a break to get separation. He does this CONSTANTLY. And it cooks defenders regularly. It’s also effective against zone coverage because Deebo is top tier at settling into vacated zones. That route running style just allows for him to sit down in empty spaces easily.
