• Cop arrests someone and places him in handcuffs in the back of the cop’s SUV.

• Cop hears an acorn fall on the SUV and thinks the arrested person that he placed in handcuffs and supposedly searched is shooting at him.

• Cop falls to the floor and fires and entire magazine at his SUV while yelling that he’s been hit.

• Luckily, despite being about 15 yards away from the SUV and unloading an entire magazine at the arrested person, he did not hit the arrested person in the SUV.

• Cop then insists he’s been hit until the doctors at the hospital tell him he is fine and has not been hit with a bullet.

I’m not refusing to acknowledge that. If that’s what I’m doing, then I’m glad you let me know. Sorry for upsetting you and my previous ER providers. I will try to do better. But, unless you have received medical care at a VA, I don’t think you would have the experience needed ro understand my sentiment. I’m not exaggerating. When I go to the ER now, I make sure to have a friend with me so that I have a witness. I have a childhood friend that is an ER doctor take me.

The last time I broke a bone and went to the ER, they gave me a splint and referred me to ortho because it was complicated. It took 2 months to get seen. I had a broken wrist for 2 months before I saw ortho for it, and the only reason I got seen that “early” was because I started complaining to the patient advocate about it.

Anyone that’s been in a relationship with an abusive narcissist can clearly see the playbook. They live in a world where the only thing that matters is power and control because their grandiosity entitles them to anything they want. They manipulate reality so that they are always on top. There is no truth beyond that. Additionally, since they are entitled to everything but don’t get it, they see themselves as an eternal victim that blames everyone else. This makes any relationship with them inherently antagonistic. Thus, anyone debating with them using logic to reach a valid conclusion will be wasting their time because the goal of the narcissist is simply to have power. They will dodge questions, distort reality, and even straight gaslight.

Another technique they use is to project. They assume that everyone else is like them, so when they accuse someone of something, the vast majority of the time it is a confession. For example, if they accuse someone of stealing an election, it’s because they tried to steal it but were unsuccessful. Since they were unsuccessful at winning the election through cheating, then the other side must have been cheating too, or they would not have won. In there minds, everyone is playing this game. They literally cannot conceive a world based on rationality and see anyone that engages in that as a threat that will dismantle their delusional grandiosity.

Watching the MAGA movement is like watching a narcissist function on a societal level. It really is the same thing. If the Democrats truly wanted to rid the country of this deranged movement, then they would hire a team of psychologists that specialize in working with narcissists in order to develop a skill set to control and limit the abuse this mentality pushes onto others. Otherwise, we’re all screwed because a narcissist cannot stop themselves from abusing others.

You’re welcome! The more I think about it, I think it’s mostly an exposure thing. Unless I’m really invested in tech, I’m not going to be going to those sites regularly. But I do go to my social media sites often, so if I regularly saw discussions/posts on the topic, I’d be more like to engage since it’s in my awareness more often.

Right‽ Isn’t it exciting when you see someone you know doing there thing? It’s like, “Hey, that’s my friend!”

I would be happy to give feedback, but I have no idea how to do so. On a few occasions, I have responded to posts, such as like on Lemmy where someone asked for suggestions to improve KDE. I still have no idea how to use GitHub at all, much less to provide feedback. I know GitHub is something I can work on to learn to interact with the FOSS development community, but it’s probably a major barrier to the non-tech people that use FOSS.

Now that I think about it, I’m thinking it would increase non-tech interaction if developers of FOSS engaged the community through social media. Like, get on Lemmy, Mastodon, even Reddit, FB, and Instagram, and engage the community in these discussions. I think that will definitely increase engagement from the non-tech users, though some of those sites may feel like a betrayal of values. It seems like an interesting ethical dilemma.

Edit: So I looked into it for KDE in particular. They actually have a Wiki that simplifies user engagement. Maybe promoting these avenues will also help engagement.

I think it’s fairly obvious that they mean Arch because they are sharing which distro they use without being prompted, which is inline with a common running joke about doing the same thing, btw.
