Russ isn’t going to play well coming off the bench or sharing the court with Harden.

This is the exact type of situation he was in on the Lakers. If we’re not going to utilize his best asset, his playmaking, then we need to move on. He’s never going to be a good bench player, and our bench is godawful.

Russ works best with a big that sets good screens, has good hands (very rare), and can roll to the basket.

Also best with a big who can handle drop coverage.

Theis is not that. He’s just another shooter. Not bad for Russ, but definitely not the perfect type of Center for Russ. Plumlee was a better fit.

Russ is never coming back to the starting lineup. That’s just silly. The FO won’t allow it, they’re the ones that pushed the Harden trade and they’re the ones that pressured Ty to make the move.

Russ will never start or close another Clippers game while the other 3 are healthy. And he’s just going to regress into what he was on the Lakers again because the team and now clearly the fans have given up on him.

So much for Harden being willing to sacrifice like everyone else. He hasn’t even attempted a catch and shoot 3 since he got here.

Look at his stats before and after Harden got here. It’s night and day.

We already fucked Russ over bringing Harden here to begin with. Now we’re cutting him out of the picture because he can’t shoot 3s while he does literally everything else better than Harden. All because Harden refuses to even try to play off ball, meanwhile that’s all Russ has been doing since Harden got here.

Clippers went from the best situation Russ could possibly be in to Lakers 2.0. Congrats, you played yourself and now we’re a worse team because of it.

Harden is the opposite of getting everyone involved. He plays with the LeBron James “Go stand over there while I drive and kick” playstyle. Russ did a lot of this during his OKC tenure, but since then he’s learned to be a more effective off ball player and has always been good sharing the rock with other stars, albeit while historically having a higher usage (not so much the last few years though)

He does need to be more aggressive, but he also needs to learn how to fit in. Or he needs to play off the bench.

Our stars need to build rhythm and he does not help with that.
