Preferably I wanted both teams to draw, but wow after watching that game I’m glad Atletico lost. What a terrible performance from them especially the 1st half. Looked like they were more focused on breaking Felix’s legs than to play football. Don’t know what happens to them every time they visit Barcelona; they just crumble. Too conservative of an approach by Simeone, and very poor individual performances from many of his players.

On the other hand, Barcelona: maybe their best game of the season. I will always emphasize how crucial De Jong is to them. That man is their machine, he runs the entire midfield and makes everyone around him better.

Comfortable game even with players looking tired and jet lagged. Rodrygo balled tonight. Even with his very dry spell and calls to bench him (me included) Carlo kept trusting him. And now he’s back to his best form. Jude great, and Fede great yet again. He puts in the work even when he’s having a “quiet” game. Also please keep putting Lunin instead of Kepa.

Putting the referee aside (I don’t want to keep talking about it), we competed a lot better than I expected. This should have been a walk in the park for Mexico if you consider the individual quality of our players, even though Rueda is slowly making us recover our identity.

I expected Mexico to give us hell in the Azteca and they did. Without playing that well but they had a fuckton of chances. We could have killed off the tie in a couple of opportunities in the first half, and that Choco header, but it wasn’t meant to be. We move on. Overall I’m proud of the way we performed especially in the 1st leg, and for the first time in a long time, I’m hopeful for the future of this team.
