  • Ok this is why I feel there needs to be discussion. Because this is just nuts. And if you go to /astrology, you’ll see so much like this. Whenever science is brought up, they shut it down. So these people are superstitious and believing the wackiest shit, and they come to astronomy and science who says “yeah this is trash.” Astronomers and scientists don’t understand the concessions and how much language has shifted in astrology to make it seem even more scientific and reliable. I think it’s important to learn the language of astrologers if we want to educate people.

  • Gaia BH1 is the closest black hole to earth and was discovered in 2022. It can be found in Ophiucus (or they’d probably say it’s in Sagittarius, Capricorn, or Scorpio since they don’t acknowledge the 13th zodiac).

I’m so curious what would happen if they learned about it. I can see some of them claiming it’s the rules over tech.

And THIS why I’m curious. It’s like watching kids play MAGIC and knowing there are other characters you could throw in their deck which could potentially blow their minds.

I don’t know how to explain it, but watching and trying to understand astrology is like watching a group of adults invent something using the objects around them, then claiming their invention has all the answers to life- and that is fascinating to me.

  • Regarding the part where I’m seeking answers: it’s in an earnest attempt to understand how and why they think.

For example, I’m curious why those chose Pluto instead of the others dwarf planets. I’m curious what would happen if they learned about Gaia BH1 and how that would affect their thoughts. Sometimes I’m curious what would happen if they cut the crap with the charts that are unseated from reality, and applied their same methodology to actual astronomy with a modern sky chart.

  • I actually don’t see it as completely harmless. Much of it is. But I see how some people are so misguided by it. Examples: • someone was asking if astrologers could read her chart and help her understand why her and her sibling looked similar, even though they weren’t the same zodiac (she didn’t understand genetics 101) • i read someone asking advice on an issue where she clearly needed therapy. The responses were about Venus and Pluto. Instead of directing her to professional help, they just put her in her own head even more. • I see pop astrologers who look for easy marks. People go to astrology whenever they have career, home, relationship, or existential issues. They seek answers from people who just want $444 or $333 for a 30 minute “reading.”
