Holy shit. I’m glad to hear you’re doing better, but hearing these types of stories really reminds me to be mindful and treasure the days when everything is good.

It sounds like you want a non-reference type headphone.
The bose QC45 by a mile. The wired open back headphones I own are OK, but fir comfort they are not in the same league as those Bluetooth ones.
If you’re on your laptop just use PEQ and smooth out the 7.5kHz and 12kHz peaks.
Watch your caffeine & sugar intake and lack of sleep. All these can magnify your tinnitus. And don’t focus on it.
Its buggy as fuck and ive given up hope they will ever fix it. I still pay for amazon music unlimited, but it’s only because I’ve spent so many years building my playlists and I’m too lazy to try and export them to a fully functional service. I also use Qobuz and Tidal occasionally. But my thoughts on amazon music are that they have the same philosophy as they do on their Amazon Prime video apps. That app is also dog shit when you compare it to others, but Amazon don’t give a fuck about making it better, coz why should they?
I totally agree that everyone interested in this should do some blind tests. But, isn’t it also true that blindtests also show us how abysmally shitty our memory for details in audio is? It’s just a few seconds before we start forgetting, right? So it’s a good experiment for us and is definitely worthwhile, but is it conclusive? Personally, I will never spend much more than £50 on a headphone cable, but that’s more to do with just wanting a good quality product that also looks nice.
I do both, it just depends on how I feel. So what if it’s slower reading when subvocalising? It’s fun sometimes to make voices up for different characters and act out lines in the same speed and cadence an actor would in a movie. But other times I just “switch off the volume” and burn thru pages normally.
As someone who has owned the Sundara and still owns the ifi dac and also a Qudelix (and also a fiio K7), I can confirm they all sound great and you will be very happy, especially with the utility of a Qudelix. The bass button is extremely useful on the ifi, but obviously it’s not portable. All in all, it’s a good choice either way you choose!
In my case, I had to use coax. I have the wiim Pro, and use it with a fiio k7, but optical on the k7 doesn’t support 24/192. It stops at 24/96.
You get used to it. But it feels like pressure.
Its deliberate. K7 is designed like that, to be used in the area after 12 o’clock.
My left ear has problems around 4k, I used to think it was my headphones channel imbalance until I tested my ears 😆
We have even more in common than that, also have a 702 & x2hr same as you but only the two headphone stands :)
Is it 12 seconds? I read it was even shorter than that.
This is a fantastic bargain and its good amp, I wish we had shops like this where I live, so jealous.
In my experience it does. Had a qudelix and an ifi for a while, and the jump to k7 was nice. It just sounds better, tighter. But I have a feeling once you get past the 500 dollar stuff it’s much less noticeable.
On my XS I had the same odd resonating buzz on certain frequencies, too, but it was only noticeable when I did the frequency sweeps headphone tests. I gave the drivers a few gentle blows, which almost fixed it! (Another redditor suggested that). And after week or so of use, it went away completely.
