Not to minimize the horror of this, and it is awful, but sexual violence is always used in war. Always has been, always will be. That’s not to say we should not tell the story of the innocent victims, we absolutely should and we should condemn the perpetrators, but we should also keep in mind this is a part of war. Property is destroyed, innocent lives are lost, survivors are often maimed, and people are sexually violated. Women, men, and children. It’s part why there’s no such thing as a just war.

It’s a sad state of the world that this man isn’t being publicly …disciplined… for his crimes against humanity.

You suffer from the illusion that congress as it currently exists represents humans. Congress represents corporate persons and special interests. There are two categories of corporate persons, a) those with just enough foresight to still be mildly afraid human persons will catch on and do something to overthrow them (Democrats), b) those who don’t care what you cattle think, because they have the psychological tools to manipulate you into doing whatever they want (Republicans). At no point is your opinion relevant because neither party actually cares, they’ll have their public relations team tell you what you’re permitted to care about closer to election day. AIPAC, the special interest group representing the Israeli government funds both, and so extracts favors as they see fit. It’s not at all crazy once you recognize the underlying structure. Evil, but not crazy.

This is an explicit statement of intent to commit genocide. His entire administration is now party to war crimes. He’s crossed a line that cannot be uncrossed.

Well that’s twice as much as you’ve suggested. All organizing starts by bringing people together. Meeting like minded individuals and building out a core network. It takes time to build communication and supply lines for more aggressive action. So far the only thing you’ve got to offer is excuses and cute nicknames like idiot orange. That milling around carrying signs is where you take stock of assets you can leverage and people willing to act. When you’re done wallowing in self pity, you can come step up and find the people that have been building the infrastructure we’re going to need to do something meaningful. Or just sit it out and let someone else do it for you, while pretending doing nothing gives you the moral high ground.

A bunch of armchair defeatist rhetoric is definitely going to move the needle though? Networks built in the George Floyd era were critical for organizing anti-ice activity, but clearly that’s just coincidence.

Some are trying, but it’s a slow process going from toothless protests to a serious movement. It took decades for the civil rights movement to reach a point where people took it seriously. It took generations for union labour to gain legitimacy. We let the tools of community organizing and collective action rust away in complacency. It’s going to take time to reforge them.

I wouldn’t hold my breath. While I fully support it if it ever happens, I doubt the US will ever even acknowledge the harm it caused.

No one should trust the US at this point, but they can clearly be manipulated for advantage. Never trust an American offering support, but always be willing to use their mistakes to your advantage.

I have a theory about why Trump himself is authorizing this. Trump is president, but he knows he can’t hang on to it. Bibi has offered to make him and his heirs kings in perpetuity of Gaza though. He’s aiming to build a new Dubai in Israel, a resort city for the rich and famous under his exclusive control in perpetuity and shield him from prosecution. Trump City. That’s a legacy. That’s the most massive tribute anyone has offered him yet. He’ll do anything Bibi asks because in exchange, he gets to be a petty king of his own little Morocco, his Singapore, his little Mediterranean paradise. It’s exactly that transactional. The proceeds from his “Bored of Peace” brigade will go to building his little kingdom, and he’ll be given a blank check to do whatever he feels like as long as he uses the full force of the US military machine to serve the Israeli cause.

Some won’t. Some will be eager to have something to shoot at. No one talks about it much but I’d imagine the esprit de corps of several services are being tested something fierce right now.
