The explorer is a bit more sporty, and the datejust is a bit more dressy. I guess it just depends on your personal style. Are you more of a jeans and a t-shirt guy or a collared shirt and khakis guy? Personally I would have more occasions to wear the explorer, even though I prefer the looks of the datejust.

Changing transmission fluid should be done as preventative maintenance, but it will pretty much never improve a problem. If a transmission starts slipping and you change the fluid it will usually fail completely.
