It depends where they end up it’s unlikely they stay 4th after they get a bye - that package is way too light if they’re 5-6.

This sub had the same conundrum with the “Nagy or Trubisky” question, and as it turns out Mitch is a career backup and Nagy is running what might be the worst Offense of the Mahomes era.
Not going to be well received by the board but I see another 4 year disposable back like Monty was and Herbert currently is. Not because he will be bad, I’m sure he’ll be plenty good, but he doesn’t look like he has elite upside and in the current NFL you can get good but not great RBs for cheap by tossing a day 3 pick at the position every 2 years or so and keep the cap spend at less than 1% of cap.
There’s multiple ways to skin a cat in the NFL. Did nothing TB or LAR do before getting their QBs matter? 2 of the let 3 Super Bowl winners built the rest of the team before adding their QB as the last piece and then both immediately won their rings. I think we agree the Bears DO need a QB but the disagreement is that they need it in the 2024 draft if it comes at the expense of moves that would have a greater impact on improving the team. The nothing matters until we find a new QB line of thought doesn’t reflect the actual reality of the NFL where most of the superbowl winning teams built strong teams in place before grabbing their QBs that ultimately won the big game.
That doesn’t imply a rookie QB will win a QB (guessing you meant Super Bowl?) - you need an entire team and Rams are an example of building the entire team first before grabbing a QB capable of winning a SB. DET is an example of grabbing a QB capable of winning a SB but not putting the rest of the team around the QB and seeing 0 playoff wins because of that.
Where did dude suggest that rookie QB would win a QB?
Where in my post do I say this?
Lock up Santos for at least 3 years he is one of the best kickers in the NFL this year.
Ok but DET found a Super Bowl winning QB but wasn’t able to win a playoff game with him. Rookie QB is not the magical fix all sokution this fan base is hoping it is. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad choice necessarily but it means you need to field the best team possible not just the best QB and whatever else you can scrape together.
Matt stafford went 5-11 in DET in 2020 and then won the Super Bowl with the Rams the very next season. There is no silver bullet you have to improve the entire team/as many positions as possible within a relatively short window of each other.
I think he’s probably gone because he will likely be one of the “losingest” coaches in Bears history on top of losing 2 of his chosen coaching staff to inappropriate conduct. Objectively speaking he has been a disaster.
It depends on the rest of the draft , I personally think Braxton is good enough that you don’t hunt for a LT but also not good enough that if Fashanu is BPA you pass. With that said, I think impact of someone like Bowers or MHJ are going to be bigger than the jump up from Braxton to one of the OT prospects.
They came into the season with a strong OL, drafted a very talented young QB and hired a coaching staff that maximizes their talent.
They don’t have to tank - they struggle to win games while trying their best lol
I’m in the trade down camp because I believe there is almost no chance Williams will be more valuable as a player than some of the crazy offers #1 will get but I can certainly agree with the logic in OP that the teams timeline matches a rookie QB.
