And the Bears needed a QB in 2000 too.
And the Bears needed a QB in 2000 too.
To be fair, I’m not sure the Cowboys drafted Schoonmaker to be an immediate replacement. TE is a notoriously slow developing position for the college to NFL jump.
Go back and look at the all-timer’s rookie years:
Witten: 35-347-1
Gates: 24-389-2
Gonzalez: 33-368-2
Today’s top TEs are not really different:
Kittle: 43-515-2
Andrews: 34-552-3
Goedert: 33-334-4
Sure every now and then you get a Shockey or Pitts but they are outliers.
Well, sure with hindsight it is really easy to do this. By that logic the Bears should not have drafted Urlacher in 2000 because they could have had Brady there.
But the Bills simply make it farther than Dallas when it actually matters
That happened exactly ONCE. In that game Allen Threw for 206 and a TD but it was the Bills D holding Baltimore to 3 points that really won that game.
Would you trade Tyler Smith, Jalen Tolbert, and 100 million for AJ Brown? Because that was exactly the price. 2022 First and Third and 100 million over 4 years.
Point being it is not a matter of imagining just adding AJ Brown to the current squad, you make that trade the current squad is not the current squad.
