Adam Peters, from reports I saw, didn’t make that move. That was largely a Shanahan + Lynch decision with Shanahan specifically having more interest in Trey Lance over Mac Jones.
When Rivera took over we had no HR department, GM, Team President, and many staff within football operations had to be fired or resigned due to pending scandals or toxic behavior. Rivera had to oversee the overall rebuild of everything on football operations and essentially act as CEO on top of regular HC responsibilities. Jay Gruden was a very lax presence & regularly neutered by Bruce Allen. The team needed discipline and structure which Rivera provided.
It’s really crazy if you think about it considering what we now know about Snyder’s tenure in just the last decade of his ownership.
Rivera did a better job stabilizing behind-the-scenes chaos from Dan Snyder than he did as a Head Coach. Overall I think he’s leaving the organization in a better place than he found it. Hope he retires and rides off into the sunset with a positive overall record when all is said and done.
IF we lose out and get the #2 overall pick the next GM/HC will draft a new QB. There’s no way Sam Howell survives Caleb Williams staring a new regime in the face - if the #1 overall pick goes to a team that prefers Drake Maye
Due to familiarity with the players and scheme they’ve been coached in - part of me wants to say Chris Harris.
However, I’m also a believer in getting a grizzled veteran DC if we end up promoting EB to Head Coach
We should want to finish 3rd in the division so we’d likely face the Rams & Packers next season. If we finish 4th we’ll be matched up with the Cardinals & Bears - which will be harder to beat in 2024 IMO
