What if, and just what if, after getting through his early jitters he really comes into his own and puts up some otherworldly stats in Mile High? Jim Donovan: “ABSOLUTE SHOCK AND AWE, FOLKS; I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I’M WATCHING UNFOLD HERE THIS AFTERNOON!!” Browns players falling all over each other and clowning it up in disbelief after each DTR miracle TD bomb. “Single-handedly dismantling the Broncos today; do not let the smile fool you, folks, this man does not play nice with others…”
They’ve got two more points on offense (227 to KC’s 225) but have given up sixteen more (180 to KC’s 164). I’m not getting overexcited about those stats, but I will say that after ten games, being neck-and-neck with the Mahomes Chiefs is quite encouraging. Didn’t expect that after Chubb went down.
13/19 for 98 yards and no turnovers is exactly the sort of drama-free QB play I was hoping for. A TD from Njoku woulda been nice and I think we got screwed on the PI but I’ll take 10-0 at the half. Just gotta keep this energy.
41-10 Cleveland. DTR throws for 260 yards, 2 TDS and one inconsequential INT, scrambles for 60. 18 yard TD run. Hunt rushes for a TD and 90 yds. Coop and Chief show up big. Myles has 3 sacks and the d-line terrorizes the hell outta the Steelers. Hopkins w a 40 yard field goal and a 50+ yarder. Steelers score first but get handled for 50+ minutes, tack on a freebie at the end but this game’s over by halftime. Trust me, I’m from the future.
Other than watson’s 14/14 passing in the second half last week, we really haven’t seen much positive in any QB play this year and somehow we’re still 6-3. So I would agree that DTR just has to be OK for us to have the chance to win. If we can avoid self-sabotaging by turnovers and display some competence in fundamentals I’d be pretty happy actually.
I’ve been saying the same thing since yesterday. Psychologically the browns seem to cave when the score is tied or they have a slight lead late in the game. Being down 1 we still needed to score and I feel like that was the tipping point.
I truly feel that being down a point was the motivator. Too many browns games in the past where they’ve played for overtime and been passive. When he missed the PAT I thought “they need more points and can’t afford to give up any more anyway, so it really doesn’t matter.” I was right for once!
Somebody this last week commented that it’s like DW is the kid who faked sick and stayed home from school and after a couple days he developed a taste for daytime television and decided he didn’t wanna go back to anymore. I hope that’s not what it is but it sure feels like it.
If DW was just some guy, he’d be on an incredibly short leash. But because we’re on the hook for so much money, people are trying to excuse his lack of quality performance thus far. We may be stuck with him for a little bit, barring something extreme, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it or look for the silver lining. There isn’t much.
Man, to see that score no one would have thought it was essentially a tied game with 7 minutes left. Oof.
