81·1 month agoWhat would be the English version of Aryans, in the Nazi Germany sense and not the origin of the term? That’s what this Charlie Clowns, sorry, Downes character seems to be aspiring to.
I’m deliberately saying English. I’m sure the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish have their fair share of idiots, but to me the proportion of genuine knobheads in England seems to be much higher. Admittedly, I live in the English AFL/UKIP/Brexit/Reform heartland, which might skew my view somewhat. Still, they are knobheads the lot.

11·2 months agoCrudely, I would estimate one professional to cost £100k per year. Outsourcing money used for hiring would equate to 2,400 staff. That could be a mix of skills, such as radiologists, nurses, SW/ML engineers and data scientists. I’d argue you can get a lot done with that money if you know what you are doing.
I’m sure they’ve done decent cost/benefit analysis instead of saying building our own capability is too difficult. I’m sure my taxes are being wisely spent.

1·2 months agoYour statement is factually correct. However, you cannot in any reasonable way argue that this fuck-up isn’t the making of the Cameron & subsequent Tory Governments. The Tories own this one.
Oh, and the lockdown parties too while I’m at it.

8·2 months agoTwo party system must come down, here in the UK and anywhere else it’s dominating politics. Proportional representation inevitably leads to much more balanced governments and better politicians in power. Not perfect, but better.

2·2 months agoThat’s bad, but nothing compared to HS2, which the biggest clusterfuck (in money terms, not human lives) I’ve ever paid tax for. The Tories own this particular folly and must never be forgiven for it.
If there wasn’t that, there is always the unforgivable pandemic corruption…
I had a boss who didn’t use even the context menu never mind keyboard shortcuts. He went for the application Edit menu to copy/paste. Gave me headaches.

3·3 months agoI’m old enough to have lived through a good few of these technology hype cycles. There was a time when I too was excited about the imminent technology revolution and how things would soon be totally different. OK, that was a long time ago, but anyway, this time it’s really different… for reasons. Quite.
I’m looking forward to having a really good laugh about the AI car crash that is coming. And if you think this time is different, we do have a really nice bridge near by that might be of interest to you. Just give me a call.

Indeed. Twisting those pins to a male port, with good pin contact and not touching adjacent pins, would be a feat I’d like to see. OP’s picture is just par for the course.
Now lets see the same hack but for the port above.

81·6 months agoGMC Tribunal threw the case out. As it says, the complaint was made by “UK Lawyers for Israel” who are the ones who lost their lawfare case, not UK Government.
Wes Streeting is a weasel, though, and the UK Lawyers for Israel could for once do something value adding and fuck off, the further the better.

He might get binned this time.
