  • I got the 256gb lcd version on October 6th from parallel imported - it’s fantastic, I paid $1170NZD and am very happy with this machine. The OLED has some nice feature updates and I may upgrade when I can get one from a local reseller (then they are my point of contact for warranty) but I can recommend the LCD as it is what we can get for now.

I am glad to be playing games on the couch or in the car for the next few months rather than waiting, and despite the hugely inflated prices we pay it is still worth the money.

    1 - don’t know haven’t tried

    2 - same

3 - maybe, but then no steam deck right now…

I love playing the old Warhammer Dawn of War games, set up a skirmish and Im happy to play for hours, works just fine with the trackpad as mouse and left joystick for panning the camera. Also been playing Starship troopers Terran Command, so far I am really enjoying this as a modern RTS, so much fun setting a line of troopers against a swarm.

Anyway yeah, RTS works great, especially with some of the community controller builds.

  • I bought one from parallel imported about a month ago, $1170 for 256gb model.

I love this thing, haven’t played on pc for 5 years but my steam account is 16 years old and I had 480 games. Going a bit mad on the bundles and now have 580 games, also bought Days Gone, Spider Man remastered and Horizon zero dawn - all amazing games and run great on the Deck.

Can’t wait to pay waaaaaaay too much money for the OLED model some time next year, will keep my LCD as a spare I guess.

  • I live in New Zealand, Valve do not sell the steam deck here. I finally caved and bought one a month ago from a local parallel import shop for $NZD1170 (256gb). It’s been available here since last year from these resellers but the high price always put it out of reach to me, that’s the price we pay for living at the end of the world.

I love this thing, of course I want the new better model but I have no choice but to be happy with my purchase until the new model becomes available generally, this way I get to play steam deck now instead of waiting forever…

i Get that people are annoyed by the lack of messaging I am a little too, but Valve probably cant hear the complaints over the sound of all the money they are making.
