It seems, from what another poster said, that some countries have a «no backsies» policy, and some, like the UK, don’t. I get why everyone argues for cash. That wouldn’t fly in my country, but I see how it would work in yours. What is, though, this «card» you mention?

I need someone to explain this to me, because in Ecuador (after the pandemic) we use a lot of direct bank transfer and it’s pretty safe. Safer than cash, really. What does OP mean when he says it was by card?

What about direct bank transfer? That’s how we do it in my little slice of the third world.

What business is of them if I buy a laptop and the proceed to parade it around the world? I understand I forego claims of damage during shipping. I pay for the shipping and the customs levied. Why would FrameWork get to say what I can or cannot do with my laptop?
