  • It’s crazy how much where a player is drafted shapes how everyone views their performances.

If Daniel Jones was taken in mid first or later who would have had a great career for a QB taken after pick 10. Instead he was picked top 6 and never matched those expectations.

Tommy D if he was even a mid round pick would be lauded for looking much better than expected on one of the NFLs worst teams.

Remember Sam Bradford? He was a terrible QB, but because of his draft profile he kept being given chances (and tons of money) despite always sucking. Eagles famously got a first round pick for him off a sign and trade.

  • Over the last four years the biggest disconnect between national media and Giants fans has been regarding where Daniel Jones rates among starting NFL QBs

National media initially was super low on Daniel Jones, but after his surprisingly good (but seriously flawed) rookie season they labeled Daniel Jones a below average QB, where they have consistently ranked him for the last four years.

Giants fans meanwhile have been up and down to extremes on Daniel Jones, sometimes saying he is a top 5 QB, and sometimes arguing (with stats to back it up) that udfa rookies are outperforming him. Sometimes it appears to jump to extremes on a game by game basis, which is insane for a QB with 5 years starting.

  • If the Giants front office prefers one QB over the others then they will make sure to get that QB. If Giant’s pick #2 but Caleb Williams is their favorite and is going #1 then Giants will attempt to trade up for Williams before settling on their second favorite QB.

If Giants front office straight up prefers an individual QB later in the draft over Williams/Maye then they will bombard Giants media with that opinion ala Giants sources saying Giants were going to take Daniel Jones at #6.

The problem with this is that Giant’s likely be able to trade down much if at all and the end result is they would take the 3rd best QB at #3.

While a lot of the article is just hyped up garbage, there is some truth there.

One big issue for the Giants is that they are best at the least impactful positions and worst at the most important.

Inside Linebackers: Giants best Interior Defensive line: Giants best

Quarterback: Giants worst Wide receiver: Giants worst Offensive line: Giants worst

  • It’s interesting because the Giants last eight seasons have all gone in a two year cycle of initial optimism for a new coach, then the inevitable collapse.

What I always find frustrating is when a large group of fans flock to blame the teams failures on a singular entity that has very little control over the teams success. For example people this year and even last year trying to blame the offense’s issues on Kafka, which is just nonsensical seeing how Kafka has to adjust to the garbage players he is given.

Or last year when Giants had the worst running defense in the NFL. Who did they blame? Just the linebackers ofc… So this year Giants have the NFLs best linebacker duo, Dexter Lawrence, Leonard Williams, A’shawn, and STILL have near the NFLs worst run defense!
