I don’t understand Canadian politics. Can anyone explain how elections work there? Aren’t they held every X amount of years? Seems like Trudeau has been head of the government forever.

You seem to think war which has been around since the beginning of time is the same thing as an individual violating civil law and murdering another individual. I find it fascinating reading posts and comments about this incident because it’s as if those who condemn murder are in some way fans of the guy that got murdered. I don’t know anything about him as an individual, but I think it is obscene for the head people of any company to get paid such a huge amount in comparison to the other employees. And in general I think health insurance companies suck. I’m saying that from personal experience. And, I don’t know, but the guy who got murdered may have put into effect policies that fucked many people who deserved insurance benefits and were denied. So was he a bad guy? Probably. But it doesn’t mean murdering him is justified or should be endorsed.
The problem with supporting breaking a law is that eventually someone that you like or admire, but who is hated by a large portion of the country is murdered like this guy. Then all of a sudden it’s a problem. You can’t have it both ways
Vigilante justice is so cool right up to the point that it is used against the people that you admire. And that is the contradiction.
Using other words to describe murder doesn’t make it different.
Radical but not logical. Make a post about a violent criminal who murders someone. And then poll the community if that criminal should get the death penalty. And I’ll bet the majority would say no and be against the death penalty for all convicted criminals. But those same people have no problem cheering on the murder of someone that they don’t like. If a person can live with this contradiction I’d guess that they just aren’t thinking for themselves but following a crowd.
Stop going out to eat and or drink. Besides saving money you will probably lose some weight
No I am not. And I hate drivers who have their heads stuck in their phones causing accidents. Grow up
Agreed. You are really referring to the fact that so many now belong to some kind of hive. They no longer think for themselves. And since being a member of a specific hive gives their life meaning, they defend it against anything or anyone that disagrees with it. I’d bet that I would have points of agreement with 99% of all posters and commenters if everyone just thought for themselves
I only use lemmy.world and find it more open to free speech than reddit ever was. Reddit has gotten worse over the years. I was never a big reddit user, but just a few weeks ago I was in a non political non controversial group. None of my comments violated the rules. Out of the blue I was banned. I was scratching my head. I was told that the asshole mod of the group went through my post and comment history and found “one” comment unrelated to the group in question that they didn’t like and therefore banned me. The mods and Admins over there are dedicated to the hive mind. I am never going back
Where I work HR put a big sign on the refrigerator door about not stealing food
I saw my retired parents waste away in front of the TV every day. As mentioned before … the best job is the one that you don’t need. So besides enjoying my part time “get out of the house” job there are other benefits. I save money and stay healthy by only drinking on Friday and Saturday. These of course are not my work days. I also don’t go out for meals during the week. I have retired neighbors that seem to spend 5 or 6 days a week out for lunch or dinner and boozing everyday. That would never work for me
Retirement sounds great till you try it. The expression is “even your garage can’t get any cleaner”. This refers to the boredom retirement can be for some. The solution that I found was a part time job, not for the money, but doing something I enjoyed. You no longer have the pressure of a “real” job. The best job that you will ever have is the job that you really don’t need.
A couple sitting at a table where the seats were a bench and not chairs. Even though they were trying to be discreet, it became obvious at one point that he was rubbing her crotch and she his. I don’t think they ever realized that some people in the restaurant noticed it
funny thing is that even when they back off their LIES, the mentally compromised continue to believe the lies that they were duped with.
I think Bernie believes his own BS but he’s not very smart.
It’s all about the leftist approach to things. Sound great. Feels good. But never consider the overall effects. Small brains operate on “feels”. Intelligent people operate on facts
I don’t think this will ever become law in the US in the near future. The biggest change for some workers came about because of the covid lunacy. So many were “forced” to work remotely and loved it. It was fun after they could no longer play the “we are all going die from covid” how employers wanted everyone to come back. This was total bullshit. If people were productive working remote why did they need to drag their ass back into an office
Thank you for that simple and easy to understand explanation.
