  • He’s becoming that fourth guard we needed for Defensive and energy purposes. Every time he enters the court it feels like the Cavs get a new burst of energy. He truly has that sixth man energy impact seen in guys like Naz Reid around the league. With him and Levert leading our second unit with complementary players like Okoro I think he can be major in addressing our limited depth.

  • I think you’re right about him naturally being more a 4 than a 5 but in the modern NBA that’s pretty tough to have to lumbering bigs in the front court who can’t shoot. The only team in recent memory who’s really went deep with that prototype is the Lakers when they won the chip. The difference was their balance and lockdown defense, some of their shooting holes were filled by their ability to defend at an all time great level. The Cavs don’t have that in our guards. Okoros great for Defense but he’s really our only solid defender in the backcourt. So traditionally I’d agree Mobley is more of a 4 but in the modern sense he’s probably more of a 5. Unless he can develop that three then he can play 4 no problem but until then he’s kinda almost forcing himself into being just another center on the court.

  • I think it’s a combination of lack of a clear role, congestion in the paint and lack of a motor with Mobley. At a certain point he needs to take responsibility for his lack of motor. Looking at guys like Wemby, Chet, and Banchero, all of them have a motor and are willing to shoot 18-25 shots, whereas I don’t see Mobley doing that on a nightly basis. I’ve seen Mobley drop 38 in person on the bucks and something was completely different he was aggressive and had confidence but he needs to bring that aggressiveness and attitude on a nightly basis.
