I’m not counting those bullshit low pin coint microcontrollers, I want an actual microprocessor with a parallel bus and peripherals so I can do personal computing stuff with it. And is at least more powerful than a Pentium 1.

With arm cpus you can at least get the bottom of the barrel microprocessors no one else wants. A53 1.4ghz chips are actually reasonably priced but beyond that it’s not. Arm is currently a better contender for a “build your own computer” type thing.

Delaying pc release that fucking long. What consoles are they even trying to force people to buy? Consoles have become kind of a niche thing, now everyone has macbooks and pcs. Nvidia graphics cards have replaced the console pyramid scheme. Will Nvidia even allow them to do this? They develop the game on pc for fuck sake.

If I play the game at all I’m pirating it. There is no acceptable reason to release the pc version 18 months after the console version. Are there even going to BE any consoles out in 2026 that can run the game?

To me, Godot is the only game engine I would ever consider using. Unity is bad because you never know what shitty stuff they’ll do next. Unreal probably doesn’t work on Linux and unreal script sounds like a terrible idea. If I had to figure out all those extremely difficult math problems like angular velocities, quaternion math, rotation matrices and shit in an obscure programming language, I would stop to rethink my life choices. It’s already hard enough doing this in more widely used established languages even with decades of stackoverflow posts available.

Besides Godot, you can always make your own. Use a graphics library like orge or Irrlicht, a physics engine (reactphysics3d for example), something for sound like openAL and once you get them all glued together, you have a game engine.

I do a lot of c++ and c# stuff. That feature where it opens a list of all the member functions and or variables of a given class or data type, the part where it underlines incorrect code as well as the thing that adds tooltip type documentation with comments to everything you hover your mouse over is invaluable.

The idea that there are people who program without that type of thing blows my mind. I can’t just memorize the entire code base myself 🤷 if I had to search the source code to verify every little thing every single time, it would take ages to get anything done.

I only use Linux and I don’t know what I’ll do when Microsoft eventually takes vs code away from us, whether by making it paid or dropping linux compatibility. I guess I’ll have to pirate the jetbrains software or something.
