Some people are actually defending this type of monetisation in the comments here. No wonder the industry has gone to shit.

I think that the only thing that kinda sucks for Indie games on places like Steam is the 30% cut they take.
But few months ago people on this sub were all about how great and wonderful “AI” trash is… what happened? Why are you now pretending to be against it?
Good. Mobile “games” are trash and the source of today’s cancerous mtx/lootbox/etc. practices in gaming.
Ace Combat 7 sales history.
Release: January 2019.
2 million units by July 2020.
2.5 million by January 2021.
4 million by November 2022.
5 million as of November 2023.
Jos one of many examples of a game that keeps selling in the digital age. Sometimes I see people here saying that games sell all their copies in the first couple months, and that may have been true 10+ years ago, but not anymore.

B-but that can’t be… I was told here that according to daddy Metacritic™ the game isn’t very good… what’s going on? Why is it a big success? And why does everyone who has played it tell me that it’s good? And why did I enjoy it myself? Something isn’t right… my gamer brain doesn’t comprehend this!
Anyway, congrats for the success. We need more AA games.
No they’re not lol.
It’s called progress. These people were useless in the age of artificial intelligence. Luddites fear AI, but that’s no reason to stop progress. Soon games will be entirely made by AI and it’s going to be glorious. Think about it. Any kind of game you want made to you by an AI.
Brilliant.
It’s not complicating it at all because 99% of people won’t care at all.
f the game is as good as it looks then be prepared for a major success.
Peak concurrent players are not sales numbers and people need to stop looking at those numbers when talking about sales. 1200+ concurrent players indicates at least 50 000 copies sold on Steam alone.
Sony doesn’t have any big single-player games coming in the foreseeable future now that Spider-Man 2 is out. With these games delayed the console feels very stale.
Fantastic game. It made me get a Marvel Unlimited subscription and I’ve been reading lots of comics there in the past week.
However, little thing that bothers me. Are there really no enemy groups spawning on top of buildings when you just freely roam the city outside of story missions? In the first game I remember there being them a lot, in this game none.
Umm… but what about this? https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/pc-gaming-consoles-report/
4 years ago millions were supposed to abandon PC gaming by 2022. It was a big headline on this sub as well.
