I never understood why anyone picks Oracle at this point. There are so many alternative options that are vastly cheaper, much easier to maintain, and aren’t owned by a company that has a habit of suing their customers.

killed in Jordan yesterday as “partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks"
Jordan is not attacking Iran, Jordan is the defender between those two nations. Furthermore, even an aggressor can defend against enemy attacks. That is simple English. Very odd you find it ‘disgusting’ to accurately describe defenders as defenders.

Rule 3: SD CARD CORRUPTION
The Pi 4 and later can use a USB drive instead of a SD card for the OS drive. It’s way faster and less prone to corruption.
I say this, despite noticing which sub we are in. ;p

https://openfront.io/ is like a very simplified HoI4. It’s quite fun. Ultimus_Rex makes videos about the game if you want to see some gameplay.
Also, older games should play on a poor laptop just fine. Starcraft: Brood War, Halo: CE, Battlefield 1942 (shout out to the Desert Combat mod), Civ V, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, Warcraft III, Diablo II, Rise of Nations.

They found a way to sell water to people in tiny little portions and people pay for it.
You can also just…not pay for those. Tap water is great, you can even filter it if you want it to be greater.

O, O, OHH burn it.
In this house we code one line per line.

It’s percentages, with English speakers using Linux at 2x the rate of the world average. The world average is mostly drug down down by China, which has almost 0% Linux use.
Some of that gets more apparent when you see all the different graphs here: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/steam-tracker/

The Steam data is pretty noisy. We got a big spike two months ago and now the anomaly went away. The import part is to pay attention to the trend, something that is quite the oppose of “falls hard”:

Yes, I think that is a major part of it.
Your religion telling you you are a bad person causes some deep turmoil. And keeping the feelings (and the person causing those feelings) away likely offers him some temporary reprieve.
You need to talk to him. Possibly many times over a long period.

Disclaimer: All I have is what you told me. So this isn’t very authorative: He is gay (or bi), having troubles processing it, he cares for you as a person, and finds you attractive.
You need to talk to him, help him process his feelings, and possibly wait out how long it will take for him to do so (This might be a long time). He is attempting to do nice things for you, do a nice thing for him and be his friend and maybe take some shit from him while you help him sort his feelings.
Yes, you will need Veracrypt available on the computer in order to access the drive. However, you don’t need Veracrypt installed. There is a portable version available for both Linux and Windows.
If you have Veracrypt available on all machines in question, you can keep it simple and have the whole drive encrypted.
However, you can also bring the portable versions with you on the same drive: Make a normal (unencrypted) partition the size of the whole drive. (ex-FAT if you want it to work on both Linux and Windows) Then have the portable verion(s) of the program on it as well as a Veracrypt encrypted container file. The encrypted container will be a big, unreadable file on the drive that will require your password to unlock and use. Then store the rest of everything inside the encrypted container.

American from the North East
they always say they aren’t white
In many lefty circles, White people are seen as lesser/placed lower. (And even formalized at many companies for hiring purposes.) So, instead many will say they are 3% Indian, referencing a blood test that (very likely) said so. Now they are a minority and not White.

so of course they are going to start charging for it
It’s a giant fuck you to Linux users as AMD only charges Linux users; AMD doesn’t charge Windows users for the entry-level tier.

That type of shit is exactly why my only interactions with Windows now is via work. A place I am pushing for more Linux in and have made some solid headway on. Just things like basic file operations are faster. A benefit I would have never known about had it not been for the constant, abusive nagging Windows does.
I had just assumed things like emptying your recycle bin of 50,000 log files is slow…no, only on Windows.

How long ago did you try?! Have an example?
I expected it to get this one wrong and it did; I expected that as Hollywood portrays this wrong and people don’t have an intuitive understanding of missile rocketry. Interceptor missiles only burn for a few seconds, get going very fast, then coast to their target. It is just flat wrong here.

I then fixed my grammar mistake and asked again, and poof, 100% opposite answer. I literally got the OPPOSITE ANSWER just because I fixed a grammar mistake. This fundamentally cannot be trusted for actual learning.

Anytime I ask it about things I’m knowledgeable about, it falls on it’s face. It only seems smart on topics I don’t know shit about (this red flag has spotlights on it!). Given this, I cannot trust it on anything lest I be led down false paths. Given how LLMs work, I don’t see this problem as fixable.
I have found them useful for search term generation. (Using a topic I know things about) If I need a more powerful drill for screwing lag bolts into hardwood and I’m not finding what I need, asking it and and getting back the keyword ‘impact driver’ is helpful, as it lets me go search for what that is and if it is the solution to my need for a more powerful drill. Note: I do not let it teach me about impact drivers (as it falls on it’s face all the fucking time), only use it to get the keyword to then use to search the internet.
To circle back to your question, I’m not scared with how fast they are advancing. I’m scared by how many people think they are good at everything and put them in places they don’t belong.

someone should work on an open-source snap alternative.
Is that not Flatpaks? They are damn good.

MS Office works in a browser, and LibreOffice opens Word/Powerpoint files just fine. Been using LibreOffice for years while my coworkers send me files made with MS Office. It’s simply not a blocker.
You go to your father’s funeral to honor your father’s memory. He isn’t going to bar his sisters from attending his funeral, that would be wildly out of the norm. When your dad dies, go to his damn funeral. This beef you have with his sisters is immaterial.
Your father expecting you to attend his funeral is pretty fucking standard. It’s a colossally large dick move to not attend your own father’s funeral just because you have a grudge against his sisters. Be a fucking adult and bear the presence of a few people you don’t like for a few hours.
