Today, I’m posting my daily wear, the IWC Big Pilot 43 Top Gun Ceramic (Reference IW329801), with the XS Red Rubber EasX Strap from IWC (MXE0HP0T).

Although IWC is a household name in the watch community, I still consider them highly underrated. IWC has been making watches for over 150 years, including watches like the original B-Uhr, Perpetual Calendars, various Tourbillons, Minute Repeaters, and Grand Complications. You also can’t forget Kurt Klaus, their Pellaton winding system and case material innovations. I love their reintroduction of ceramic materials and their new ‘ceratanium,’ a titanium base mixed with ceramic. Many of their coloured ceramics were developed in the late 80s, but IWC shelved them, only releasing black and white ceramic models.

While I appreciate the ‘boys club’ aspect of IWC, I like the modern direction Christoph Grainger-Herr has taken the brand since becoming CEO in 2017, prioritizing things like sustainability and adding smaller sizes to accommodate a larger audience. Chris has modernized the brand without overlooking its 150-plus years of heritage and quality, I’m fortunate enough to own many high-end timepieces and have gotten to experience a lot of different brands. Through the process, I’ve learned I typically only like one or two watches from each brand, but somehow, IWC has an entire catalogue of watches I desire. IWC is a brand I find myself continually returning to as the brand that most resonates with me; their consistently flawless quality and history are on par with the greats. I hope more people get to discover and enjoy the IWC brand.

For those who will ask. My wrist size is 6.25”. Yes, this watch is huge. No, the lugs don’t overhang my wrist in person. This watch is definitely too big, but the photo makes it appear much worse.
