    upgrade mean :

Losing a significant amount of time trying to resell a base Steam Deck with a 1TB disk for approximately 350e. If you opt for the 64GB version and add a 1TB NVMe, your total loss is 150e (100e for the SSD and 50e for the deck, given the original cost was 400e).

There’s a reliance on luck for the newer model to be in stock after selling yours. In Europe, it’s priced at 570e. Considering the loss from selling the base model (570e-350 = 220e in loss + the 150e you loose selling it comparing to its base value) so it’s a 370e upgrade

it’s the price of another base 64GB Steam Deck and this is assuming the buyer isn’t trying to scam you.

  • Actually, there are two types of reactions: those who have an emotional connection with their devices (a lot of people in this sub) and those with a more materialistic view. For those with a materialistic view, it’s obviously bad news. It means their device has lost value, and they weren’t warned that it would happen overnight.

  • SidFikBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watchI'm very disappointed

I understand your disappointment. Even for me, having it for about 10 months, I’m not very confortable about this sudden announcement. What I always wanted is an OLED screen on this device. But losing about 1/3 of the value to sell it and paying at least $150 to buy the new one doesn’t sound like a mature choice.

It means that doing this would eventually cost the same as buying the entry model on stock right now.

I might consider selling it now and waiting for the future model or a competitor’s one. It may help lower the loss, as during this time (in 1-2 years), the value of my current device may drop by more than half.
