As of October 2023, 6,065 kilometres (3,769 mi) (38%) of the British rail network was electrified.
More than half is still old school

It’s why taxes were invented. Nothing gives currency value as being beaten by not giving it back to the king’s men.
Alright, what are the best options for blocking mentions of Trump? Last term there was so much noise from that guy or about him.
Recent events showed it’ll ruin worker’s rights first.
No job is truly unskilled. Researchers have been trying to get robots to autonomously wipe tables and fold towels for years with only very limited succes. There is a reason why they only show the pick and place job here and nobody mentions the price for the training for a single task that’s not just picking things up.
Yes, progress with these things is always logarithmic. It plateaus because of inherent limitations of the tech. Then the wait behind for someone to invent a new tech.
Wouldn’t be the first civilization that disappeared because the elite doesn’t want to compromise and give up status. It’s a constant in history.
They really want to force gamers to buy their new games which are pretty much like the old games but now with extra helpings of ads, gambling mechanics and micro transactions on top
Perhaps it can be scaled down easily to something that fits in a home. It could be a fridge sized machine that’s hooked up to power and water and keeps producing fresh food. That’ll cut out the middlemen.
The fields of AI and robotics exists for much longer. The first industrial robot was installed in 1961. The first artificial neural network in 1958. I’d argue the s curve started there. Even humanoid general purpose robots existed in 1986 with Asimo for example. But with such a long lead time, I expect reaching the top of the curve to take multiple decades.
Traditionally kids do the rounds for candy on December 31th or on epiphany (three kings bringing gifts) around here. It depends on the region if one of those traditions is maintained.
Everybody forgets poor ol’ Saint Nicolas.
Especially after promising self driving for a decade and then giving this little demo. It doesn’t give much confidence for the robot to her autonomous anytime soon.
Sometimes it’s just easier to block some communities to get rid of the politics
The numbers are kinda meh for this. You have for example the gogoro scooters with swappable batteries. Each battery has about 2 kWh, weighs 10 kg.
That hydrogen cartridge I assume is about the same size as the battery and contains 5 liter, roughly a gallon. Hydrogen at 300 bar is 0.75 kWh / liter, so 3.75 kWh. Then it goes through a fuel cell at 50% efficiency and you get 1.9 kWh usage power. Not better than the battery. And if you want to power a car with, say 60 kWh battery car, it means 32 hydrogen canisters to swap.
There is also liquid hydrogen that has 2.36 kWh per liter. With 5 liter you get 5.9 kWh usage power per canister, almost triple the battery, but don’t park these indoors. 10 of these are needed for a 60 kWh car.
For those scooters, the battery solution already works good.

This one is street legal and flight certified: https://www.pal-v.com. The others are still doing certification. But yeah, it’s not really what people thought the future was going to be. It never is. Retrofuturism exists for a reason.
And the modern replacement for the helicopter is the eVTOL. That one is also often called a flying car, although they’re not street legal. As far as I know nobody died in an eVTOL yet.
Politics. They privatized rail and the private companies don’t like doing the investment.
