You sound like a good person who understands healthy boundaries. Unfortunately there are lots of people who are not like that and would rather keep applying pressure when rejected.

Luckily that was evil mirror universe Lorca that said it, so it fits.
This has happened to me recently with Smash Bros and my son. He asked me to play recently and I haven’t played in about a year so I got handled pretty badly.
He obviously has way more time to play than I do but I’ve got about 20 years of experience on him, so the next day we played again and it was a much better set of matches for me. The muscles woke up, I need to start practicing more.
